With any water loss, it is best to call for professional help as soon as possible. After a storm there can be multiple instances that water damages can occur. First call a professional to guide you on what they preferred you take care of if you wanted to. If you did want to rake precautions you could start by making sure you or your family members are not in harm's way. Try removing as much water as possible by mopping the area. Remove any wet area rugs/carpets that are not permanently attached. Prop up wet furniture on cushions and raise the furniture on the floor. It is essential to try to remove as much water as possible because bacterial growth can grow within hours of the water loss.
